APPLICATION PROCESS
In early April every student registered in Edmonton Public Schools will receive a pre-enrolment passport. This passport is required to make an
application for enrolment at our school. Students that are out of our school
district will be required to complete an application. Applications are
available at our school office.
ENROLMENT GUIDELINES
We have an optimal enrolment limit for grade 7 and have been oversubscribed in the past. Incoming grade 7 student who live outside our
enrolment area may be subject to a random selection draw. The sibling
exception rule applies only if siblings will be registered in the same
school for the same school year.
Incoming grade 7 students who live within our attendance area will be accepted (North of 137 Avenue, East of 82 Street, West of 66 Street. The
area bounded by 72A Street to 82 Street and North of 153 Avenue to 167
Avenue. Not included is the Ozerna (Rose Garden) district).
We are as of the 2008-09 school year, a district site for the Pre-Advanced Placement program and any qualified student may apply
for the program. The Pre-Advanced Placement program is intended for
students who:
• want a more academically enriched and challenging program
• are interested in broadening their intellectual and International perspective
• wish to develop skills that will enable them to become socially responsible, life-long learners
• may have met the eligibility fore Gifted and Talented coding
Students will be successful if they are:
• achieving honors marks (straight As, 80%) in academic core subjects
• meeting the standard of excellence on the Provincial Achievement Tests
• scoring at or above grade on the Highest Level of Achievement Tests
Application packages for the Pre-Advanced Placement program can be picked up in the office or accessed on our website.
We are a district site for the Mandarin Bilingual program and any qualified students may apply for the program. In the case of oversubscription,
grade 7 students applying to the Mandarin Bilingual Program may
be subject to a random selection. Students applying for the Mandarin
Bilingual program and that live within the boundaries set for the program
(East of 82nd street, North to 167th and South to Wayne Gretzky Drive
and West of 18th Street). An automatic placement Mandarin Bilingual
program is intended for students who:
• have successfully completed the Mandarin Bilingual program in elementary,
and who have fluency in both speaking and writing Mandarin
• are planning to continue in the Mandarin Bilingual Program
ENROLMENT DEADLINES
Passports of students from in district schools and application forms from out of district students are to
be submitted to our office no later than Friday, April 18, 2008 at 4:00pm.
Applications for the Pre-Advanced Placement program are to be submitted to our office by Friday,
April 11 at 4:00pm.
ENROLMENT FOLLOW-UP
Students involved in the random selection process will be notified if they were or were not successful
in the random selection process. Students who live within the attendance boundaries have an
automatic placement at Londonderry.
